Very Rare cruet made of emerald green crystal measuring under 6" tall w/o stopper, 7.5" with stopper, 3.5" wide at widest point. 4 eyes, semi polished pontil, applied handle, blown molded glass. Paneled stopper, not grounded, bubble seen in stopper, scalloped opening of jar top, also paneled. Small chip on side of jar, more felt than seen due to busy pattern. c1895 A picture of the emerald green syrup in Heacock's Victorian Colored Pattern Glass Book III, page 17 (second row, far right-hand side). He writes... "Maker: Only speculative at this point. Y.O.P.: circa 1895. Colors made: crystal & emerald Green. Items known: a syrup, cruet, toothpick only items documented to date. Repro's: None. Name by: Murray, Book 2. Note: Very similar to Dew & Dewdrop, but the patterns are not the same at all." |
