This is a lovely Pickard china plate entitled "At the Piano" by Pierre-Auguste Renoir (French Impressionist 1841-1919). It is a limited edition plate made in 1979 of just 5000 and is the 4th plate out of 6 in "The Children of Renoir" collection. It measures approx. 8 1/4 inches in diameter with a rich border of 23 karat gold, hand painted over delicate embossing. This plate comes new in box with papers and is in excellent condition, never having been used or displayed. For your interest, the original "At the Piano" painting by Renoir hangs at the Louvre in Paris, in the Museum of Impressionism. |
