This is a lovely Pickard china plate entitled "Two Little Circus Girls" by August Renoir. It is a limited edition plate made in 1980 of just 5000 and is the 5th plate out of 6 in "The Children of Renoir" collection. It measures approx. 8 1/4 inches in diameter with a rich border of 23 karat gold, hand painted over delicate embossing. This plate comes new in box with papers and is in excellent condition, never having been used or displayed. For your interest, the original painting TWO LITTLE CIRCUS GIRLS hangs in the Chicago Art Institute and was painted in 1879. |
